Розглядається наукова проблема дослідження еволюції концепції genius loci К.Норберг-Шульца під тиском постмодерністських та постглобалізаційних викликів. Систематизовано теоретичні підходи сучасної архітектури до концепції genius loci в період 1970–2020‑х рр.; виявлено ключові етапи еволюції концепції, три траєкторії розвитку та тенденції в еволюції її змісту. Дослідження актуалізує концепцію genius loci для українського контексту як методологічного підґрунтя для повоєнної відбудови та сталого розвитку архітектури в Україні.
