Висвітлюється актуальна проблема сьогодення – створення нового житлового середовища в містах як важливої складової їх соціально- економічного розвитку. Окреслено основні напрямки розвитку житлового будівництва в Україні від 1991 р. Охарактеризовано сьогоднішню концепцію розміщення житлової забудови у Львові. Проаналізовано приклади та розглянуто планувально-функціональну організацію сучасних житлових комплексів. Виявлено містобудівні прийоми, спрямовані на формування зручного простору для мешканців.
